Zyn is a wolf-type Talyxian-Associator, and is considered the adoptive father of Rain Silves. He is called "Zyn" by Rain, though like all Associators he does not speak and thus it is unknown whether his real name is "Zyn". While wolf-type Talyxian-Associators don't normally have genders, Zyn is treated as a "father" to Rain as he taught her how to survive in the forest and how to hunt. Because wolves have a wild and feral nature, it could be said that Rain was a "wolf-girl" similar to San from Princess Mononoké. Zyn ultimately left Rain and vanished once she was fully grown and independent.
In stark comparison, Zyn's Old Age counterpart was humanoid, was fully capable of speech, and had a governmental role in Shigu politics.
